So, here is what I am going to wear...

Renew you with Drew - How to take care of your brown skin

Hello ladies....hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Today I wanted to share with you a site I discovered online that was developed by a well known dermatologist, her name is Dr. Susan Taylor. She has a private practice in Philadelphia and now has a website that you can go to get advice concerning your skin. Her site particularly is targeted for those who have brown skin...Whether you're Latino, African American, Asian, Indian or Middle-Eastern descent, our skin, hair, and nails are unique and should be treated differently when seeking skin, hair, and nail care.

When I read up on Dr. Taylor's purpose on giving us this educational site www.brownskin.net, it made me have a better understanding of how women of color should take more notice on the care of their skin. Just like any other specialty in a particular area, women and men of color should research and find a dermatologist that has well experience with treating people of color. Brown skin comes in many shades and that's part of what makes it so unique. So to all my brown skin ladies please be informed on how to maintain your beautiful skin and always remember embrace your face.

Take the time to read through Dr. Susan Taylor's site. I promise that you will be well informed.

Below are just some suggested skin care products that Dr. Taylor has to offer on her website.

Fix your shape

Shape wear oh shape wear! It can be your best friend because it will give a hand you looking flawless. First thing you should to do is to find your “trouble area” then locate the best shape wear for your shape. Don’t get frustrated you may have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince you know what I mean.
Some of my faves are:

High waist long leg shapers - these aid in those nasty muffin tops, eliminating panty lines, and shaping the booty. Make sure to locate one that will come up the way up to your bra and will not roll down.
Deep Plunge bodysuits - the plunging neckline will stop a peek a boo bra and control the lovely tummy.
The all-in-one unitard – These have a built in bra with under wire, Capri-length legs, and all over spandex to smooth and slim you out.

Below are some great options.

Lashes in a flash- Renew you with Drew

Hello ladies,

If the eyes are the gateway to your soul then Mascara is the doorway to your eyes...

Whether you are going for a natural look or an evening smokey look for your eyes, mascara is the key to making your eyes open up. I don't know about you, but I know that my eyes just feel naked without the touch of mascara.

Here are some of my favorite picks that give you different looks and special benefits.

Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Washable Mascara: This will elongate your lashes and do what a stiletto heel would do for your legs...sexify those eyes.

For those ladies who have short, fine, and very straight lashes....try Chanel's Sculpte Cils Longeur Extreme Sculpting Mascara Extreme Length.
This mascara is great for those who have this issue...The brush is skinny so you can get from the root to the end and lengthen your lashes...plus you benefit by getting vitamins A & B to protect and coat your lashes.

Another favorite mascara of mine is L'Oreal Paris Voluminous....If you want volume then this is just what you need....This formula has been around for years and the black shade is extreme.....the brush is also fabo. You'll absolutely love it.

So ladies these are some ideas on finding the right mascara for your needs.....
Keep in mind to always embrace for face.....

Sheath affection

What is a sheath dress?

In fashion, a sheath dress is a type of dress designed to tightly fit the body. It is often made of a very light and thin material like cotton or silk, and rarely contains any flourishes.

Just because I am wearing a fabulous belted Tahari royal blue sheath dress today that I scored at Marshall's last week for only $30. Everyone should have a dress this fabo, it is form fitting and comfy.

So, I located a ton of options for you below:

You're such a Natural! - Renew you with Drew

Hello ladies....A natural and a fresh look for those who just want something simple but shows off and enhances your beauty.

Here are some suggestions... Always start out with cleansed and moisturized skin. This itself will allow your makeup to go on smoothly. Instead of using a foundation or powder...try a tinted moisturizer that will give you a radiant glow to your skin.

Cover Girl Smoothers SPF 15

Laura Mercier

Laura Geller barely there tinted moisturizer

For those Cheeks: try a cheek stain...just enough color to give you that fresh and rosy look. A little goes a long way smooth outward with your finger tips and apply on the apples of your cheeks and stroke upwards.

Your lip color should be neutral and try to find a color that blends well with your lip color.

Here are some suggestions:

Sephora Maniac Mat Long-Wearing Matte Lipstick

Bath & Body Works Mentha Lip Tint

For those who still like a little color on the eyes, try matted shades like the suggestions below:

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc Free Mineral Eye Shadow Duo

Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow

Urban Decay Matte Eyeshadow

For those eyebrows:

Try either a powder formula or a brow marker, which is my favorite brow enhancer. Remember when applying, do it with a light stroke and not with a heavy hand.

Laura Geller Long-Lasting Color Brow Marker

Smashbox Brow Tech

Illamasqua Eye Brow Cake

Thanks Ladies please feel free to contact me with any questions at renewyouwithdrew@yahoo.com.

As always remember to embrace your face.

Drew

Special thanks to www.laurageller.com, www.sephora.com. www.covergirl.com, www.bathandbodyworks.com, www.physicansformula.com for the photos.

Watch Out!

I love watches I hardly wear them but I adore them nevertheless. I view them as more as an accessory to my outfit than a necessary in order to know what time it is. I usually check my cell phone for the time whether I have on a watch or not. I believe that everyone should have a few watches that satisfy different needs. For example a sporty, a classy/ dress up watch, a bold "check me out" watch, and a more everyday type of watch.

I know I have mentioned in previous posts that I love Toy watches. However, I have to tell you that Michelle watches are my dream and I am really starting to dig the Juicy Couture watches as well.
